Use this policy to centrally configure cellular network settings on managed iOS and iPadOS devices through JumpCloud Apple MDM. Standardizing cellular configuration helps improve security by reducing misconfigurations, boosts productivity by ensuring reliable connectivity, and supports organizational consistency across all enrolled devices.
Prerequisites
- iOS/iPadOS devices must be enrolled in Apple MDM with the following enrollment type:
- Device-Enrolled Devices - These devices are owned by the corporation, and enrolled by the admin or by the user.
- Auto-Enrolled Devices - These devices are owned and enrolled by the corporation through Automated Device Enrollment.

- Target devices must be running iOS/iPadOS 7 or later.
Creating the Policy
To create the policy
- Log in to the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
Important:
If your data is stored outside of the US, check which login URL you should be using depending on your region, see JumpCloud Data Centers to learn more.
- Go to Device Management > Policy Management and click (+).
- On the New Policy panel, select the iOS tab.
- Search and select Cellular from the list, then click configure.
- (Optional) In the Policy Name field, enter a new name for the policy or keep the default. Policy names must be unique.
- (Optional) In the Policy Notes field, enter details such as creation date of the policy, and information on testing and deployment of the policy.
Configuring Apple Mail Policy Settings
In the Settings section, configure the following:
- Attach APN Name - Enter a name for the Attach APN configuration.
- Attach APN Authentication Type - Select an authentication type of the Attach APN name.
- Attach APN Username (Required) - Enter a username for the Attach APN configuration.
- Attach APN Password - Enter a password for the Attach APN configuration
- Attach APN Supported IP Versions - Select the Internet Protocol versions that the system supports for the Attach APN configuration. This is available in iOS 10.3 and later
- In the APN Configurations section, define the following:
- Name – Enter the fully qualified domain name of the incoming mail server.
- Authentication Type - Select the authentication type for logging in.
- Username (Required) - Enter the name for the APN.
- Password - Enter the user’s password for the APN.
- Proxy Server - Enter the proxy server’s address.
- Proxy Port - Enter the proxy server’s port number
- Supported IP Versions - Select the Internet Protocol versions that the system supports.
- Supported Roaming IP Versions - Enter the Internet Protocol versions that the system supports while roaming. This is available in iOS 10.3 and later.
- Supported Domestic Roaming IP Versions - Enter the Internet Protocol versions that the system supports while roaming. This is available in iOS 10.3 and later.
- Enable XLAT464 - Select this option to enable the Internet Protocol versions that the system supports. This is available in iOS 10.3 and later.
Assigning and Applying the policy
- (Optional) Select the Device Groups tab. Select one or more device groups where you want to apply this policy. For device groups with multiple OS member types, the policy is applied only to the supported OS.
- (Optional) Select the Devices tab. Select one or more devices where you want to apply this policy.
- Click Save. If prompted, click Save again. The policy configuration settings are applied automatically and do not require a system restart.
